At what time does the
NJ Section open and close?
Park areas are open
from sunrise to sunset. (During the peak warm-weather season, times are
from about 6 am to about 8
pm, conditions
permitting.)

Who has to pay parking fees?
All vehicles
parking in areas where parking fees are in effect must pay the
established parking fee except for vehicles operated by a driver with a valid state-issued Senior Citizen Pass
or by a driver whose license shows that he/she is a
New Jersey or New York resident 62 years or older; vehicles with a valid decal for the Alpine or Englewood Boat Basin (these decals
are valid only at the specific boat basin area where the boat is
kept and at the Hazard’s Dock Boat Ramp); vehicles operated by a driver
with a valid Park-issued weekday season parking pass; vehicles using the
Hazard’s Dock Boat Ramp that are operated by a driver with a valid
Park-issued season pass.

On what days does the
NJ Section
charge parking fees?
From May
through October a parking fee ($5)
is charged on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at the
Ross Dock
and
Englewood Picnic Areas; from May through October a parking fee ($5) is charged on
weekends and holidays at the
Alpine Picnic Area; a
parking fee ($5) is charged from April through November at
Fort Lee Historic Park
on weekends and holidays and during special events.

Is a fee charged if a vehicle is parking only for
a short time?
Yes.

Is a parking receipt (ticket) valid for reentry
and/or to park in
other park areas in the
NJ Section?
Yes, but only on the
day it was issued, and not after an area has filled to capacity.

Are grills available at the picnic areas?
Yes, but they are
usually taken by about 11 am
(visitors are therefore advised to bring their own portable grills with
them).

Can picnic tables, grills, and parking spaces be
reserved?
No.
The picnic areas are
first-come, first-served. To hold a table, at least one person must be
present at that table; only one grill can be used by a party; only one
car is allowed per parking space. (The
only area that can be reserved is the Alpine Pavilion in the Alpine

Are pets allowed in the NJ Section?
Properly leashed
and cleaned up after, dogs may be brought on our hiking trails. Pets are
not permitted in picnic areas nor at Fort Lee Historic Park
or Greenbrook Sanctuary.

Can bicycles be ridden on the trails in the NJ Section?
No.

Is fishing allowed in the NJ Section? Is a permit or license required to
fish?
Fishing is allowed
along the Hudson River wherever there are no signs prohibiting it; permits and
licenses are not required but state laws apply.
