There are four large riverfront picnic areas in the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey:

For current hours of operation at our picnic areas, please check the chart in the sidebar >

Parking fees at picnic areas are collected from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Weekday collection is from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekend collection is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Holiday weekend collection is from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

Picnickers can be accommodated at all of our developed park areas.

Barbecues are permitted only in our four riverfront picnic areas. Only a limited number of grills are provided in these picnic areas. Those who wish to barbecue are advised to bring their own self-contained grills and fuel or charcoal. Ground fires are not permitted anywhere within the park. Coals must be properly extinguished before disposal in one of the red trash cans (marked “hot coals”). Grilling on tables is prohibited.

At all park areas, restrictions may be in place, and space may be limited. Parking spaces and picnic tables (where available) may not be reserved for members of a party that are not present. During peak season, mid-May to mid-September, some park areas may close as early as midday when they have filled to capacity.

Groups over 25 (including children) are prohibited without a permit. Permits must be secured in advance through our Park Commission office — click here for more information.
