EMERGENCY STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

Ongoing Until Further Notice:

Dyckman Hill Road (Englewood Cliffs park entrance) remains closed to all use (vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians). Dyckman Hill Trail (yellow markers) is closed.

3/5/26 Update:

The Dyckman Hill section of the NJ Palisades has been closed since sustaining significant damage during Hurricane Ida in 2021. Following several years of engineering assessments and coordination with outside experts, FEMA, and State of New Jersey officials, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission has secured the funding necessary to move forward with repairs.

Construction is not expected to affect the upcoming season. Work is currently planned to begin next winter and will proceed in two phases.

The first phase will focus on stabilizing and repairing Dyckman Hill Road and will allow for the reopening of the Englewood Cliffs park entrance at PIP Exit 1, also known as the Dyckman Hill Road entrance.

The second phase will follow with a broader restoration of Henry Hudson Drive from Edgewater to Alpine, including drainage improvements, roadway rehabilitation, and repairs to the eastern parapet walls.

We will continue to share updates as construction dates are confirmed and look forward to seeing these long-anticipated repairs move forward.

EMERGENCY TRAIL REPAIRS

The Giant Stairs is closed to all use from Peanut Leap Cascade to Forest View.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily closed the Giant Stairs in order to properly assess both the damage and the stability of the terrain following the slide.
