Ross Dock Picnic Area
Ross Dock Picnic Area is our largest picnic area in the Park, just north of the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, New Jersey. It is also the site of Carpenter’s Grove and Hazard’s Ramp boat-launch.
At the southern end of Henry Hudson Drive, Ross Dock features picnic tables, grills, restrooms, water, and trash receptacles. Grounds are open year-round. Restrooms may be closed in winter.
Metered parking is in effect at Ross Dock Picnic Area from April through October. The park’s riverfront areas are NOT served by public transportation — visitors may need to consider rideshare or similar services.

Hikes from Ross Dock Picnic Area
Carpenter’s Loop Hike: Moderate | 5.5 mi., 2.5 hrs. round-trip (with an opportunity to shorten by about half).
Carpenter’s Grove
Carpenter’s Grove, just south of Ross Dock Picnic Area, is a picnic grove that is set aside for the use of groups by permit.
Fun for All Ages!
The playground at the north end of Ross Dock Picnic Area provides a great place for children to let out their wiggles safely!
Boat Launch
Ross Dock provides access to a boat launching ramp for both trailered boats under 24 feet and car-top boats (canoes and kayaks).
Camp Colony
In the 1930s, Ross Dock was set up as the park’s Camp Colony, with big tents families could rent for all or part of the summer. Later, small cabins built by the WPA were added!
