Hidden gem
A hidden gem for those who like to party in a still more rustic setting, Undercliff isn’t for everyone, but there’s plenty of shady spaces and some neat old ruins by the old bathing beach along the river. It sweetens the deal that there’s no parking fee charged!

Stone picnic tables
The park’s Operations staff has been restoring the stone picnic tables at Undercliff and other park areas. These tables were originally built in the 1930’s by the “CCC-boys” of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Undercliff Bathhouse | 1932
Summer crowds take to the river from the beach at Undercliff Bathhouse in 1932, ten years after it was first built. Many came from New York City to swim here during the Great Depression.

Today's Ruins
The ruins of the bathouse still stand, an intriguing clue to the park’s past. Before the park purchased this property, it was part of a large boatman community.
