The following park visitors may be eligible to claim exemptions from metered parking:

Senior citizens aged 62 and over with a valid NJ driver license and valid NJ vehicle registration

Notes: Documents must be current. Name and address on license and registration must match. Seniors who lease a vehicle must present the full registration slip that includes their first and last names as the lessee. Seniors can receive only one exemption per person even if they own or lease more than one vehicle. Seniors with the same address can each apply for their own exemption. These exemptions are valid for 12 months following application approval and must be renewed annually.

Boat Basin Tenants in the Park

Starting spring of 2024 Boat Basin tenants who rent a slip for the season at Alpine or Englewood Boat Basin may apply with the Commission for hang tags that will allow them access to free designated boater parking areas. Designated boater parking areas are for boat basin tenants only and are designated via signs. Commission-provided hangtags are needed to park in designated boater parking spaces. Hangtags are available free of charge to registered boaters that lease a slip at one of the Boat Basins.

Please note: Metered parking exemptions are NOT valid at Hazard’s Ramp.

Information about Tidal Flooding in Parking Areas

During the several days around a new or full moon, tides run higher than normal, and it is possible that sections of the parking areas closest to the river at Englewood and Alpine Picnic Areas may flood for up to several hours around the time of high tide. This is especially likely if there is storm activity in the area (including offshore) and at certain times of year, especially in the fall. These conditions have become more frequent and severe in recent years and are likely to worsen further as sea levels continue to rise due to climate change!
