Operations Department | 2017 Positions

2016 Operations staff on orientation tour of the park. Operations staff meets to review procedures.

Area Attendant

34 – 40 hours per week, $12.00 per hour.

Area attendants work in a team environment to ensure the clean and pleasant atmosphere of the park’s picnic areas. This position is ideal for those looking to build their resumes in the field of natural resources management. Consideration is given to early applicants and those that can begin work prior to May 27th and continue after Labor Day. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Area attendants must work most weekends and all holidays from May 27 to Labor Day, 2017, be able to lift 30 lbs., and have a valid driver’s license.

Area attendants lift, position, and move traffic cones and barricades. Area attendants carry out assigned maintenance projects. Area attendants carry out parking lot maintenance. Area attendants direct motorists to parking areas and spaces.

Parking attendants must work most weekends and all holidays from May 27 to Labor Day, 2017, be able to lift 30 lbs., and have a valid driver’s license.

Fuel Dock Attendant

32 hours per week (Saturdays, Sundays, Thursdays, and Fridays), $10.00 per hour.

Fuel dock attendants help to securely and safely dock boats and jet skis at the fuel dock to safely dispense fuel. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Fuel dock attendants must work weekends and all holidays from May 15 to October 29, 2017, be able to lift 30 lbs., and have a valid driver’s license.

Restroom Attendant

40 hours per week (Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays), $15.00 per hour.

Restroom attendants are responsible for cleaning the 11 public restrooms in the New Jersey Section of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Restroom attendants must work weekends and holidays from May 1, to October 31, 2017. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and have a valid driver’s license.

Concession Attendant

28 hours per week, $10.00 per hour.

Concession attendants staff and operate park concession stands. Concession attendants assist with food preparation and service. Concession attendants help maintain a clean and safe environment for patrons and operate cash registers.

Trail Crew Member

28 hours per week (Tuesday – Friday, must work occasional weekends and evenings), $11.00 per hour.

Applicants must indicate available start date. Position runs until December for non-students.

Members of the NJ Palisades Trail Crew are responsible for the maintenance of the park’s 30+ miles of hiking trails. Crewmembers will be trained on-the-job in methods of trail maintenance and construction and the safe and proper use of all related equipment. Crewmembers will also learn about the NJ Palisades trail system, various species of flora and fauna, geology, history, and rules and regulations pertaining to the NJ Palisades, and will occasionally assist with park programs. Experience is a plus, but not required.

Site Assistant

Up to about 14 hours per week (during weeks when programs are scheduled), $10.00 per hour.

Site assistants assist year-round in maintaining and operating the park’s historic Kearney House. This job is ideal for those seeking interesting part-time work and who have a flexible schedule. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Must be available to work weekends and evenings when programs are scheduled (a full schedule of programs can be provided to serious applicants). Must be available for duration of programs for which you are scheduled to work, including all prep and cleanup.
