Alpine Approach Road south of Park Headquarters is CLOSED TO ALL USE for major road reconstruction.
Projected reopening: May 1 (weather and other factors permitting – please check back for updates).
Due to hazardous conditions, this closure will be strictly enforced. Violators are subject to summonses.

Trail Crew Member
28 hours per week (Tuesday – Friday, must work occasional weekends and evenings), $11.00 per hour.
Applicants must indicate available start date. Position runs until December for non-students.

Members of the NJ Palisades Trail Crew are responsible for the maintenance of the park’s 30+ miles of hiking trails. Crewmembers will be trained on-the-job in methods of trail maintenance and construction and the safe and proper use of all related equipment. Crewmembers will also learn about the NJ Palisades trail system, various species of flora and fauna, geology, history, and rules and regulations pertaining to the NJ Palisades, and will occasionally assist with park programs. Experience is a plus, but not required.
- Clear trails of overgrowth and fallen trees.
- Mitigate erosion.
- Pick litter.
- Build walls, steps and other trail structures.
- Provide visitors with hiking and safety information.
- Participate in volunteer events, guided tours and outdoor programs
- Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
- Hike steep slopes with tools and building materials.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Note: Those with severe reactions to poison ivy, bees, wasps, and the like should reconsider applying.
