The Palisades of the Hudson

Park Headquarters building is closed to the public for fire remediation (email & phone communication remain active). No public restrooms or water are available on site at this time.

Built in the 1920s as a private residence, this stone building houses the Court of the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey and the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department and, upstairs, the New Jersey offices of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.

The Headquarters building also has public restrooms and serves as a stepping off point for hikers — like this group gathered for a winter history hike with the park’s interpretive staff.

From its construction in the late 1920s through the early 1940s, the Headquarters building was the main house for “Penlyn,” the estate of Henry Herbert Oltman and his family.
